Bait Rocket - What Is It and What Is It For?

The bait rocket is a colloquial name for a fishing tool that is used to deliver bait into the fishing area. The term "rocket" comes from its shape, resembling a military rocket, giving it an aerodynamic form as well as great precision during casts to a selected spot on the fishing ground. Due to its construction, the bait rocket allows for delivering both properly prepared loose bait and larger loose fractions such as boilies, pellets, and grains.

Types of Bait Rockets

With an ever-growing market offer of carp bait models, we can now distinguish several types used by anglers. The first rocket models to appear on the market had a "full" construction with an aperture located at the back, which served both for filling with bait and for emptying it into the water after casting. Currently, this model is practically forgotten due to the openable rockets. These rockets have various systems allowing them to be closed after filling with bait and to release the bait upon contact with the water surface. The most commonly used systems involve a type of spring that opens the rocket upon hitting the water surface, thus releasing the bait much faster compared to the previously mentioned rear aperture model. Additionally, there are rockets on the market that release the bait only after reaching the bottom, as well as models that open just above the water surface, allowing for "scattering" the bait over a larger area of the fishing ground.

Sizes of Bait Rockets

Anglers casting from the shore use various sizes of bait rockets, to appropriately adapt to the feeding conditions of the fish and the distances they intend to bait. The smallest models of bait rockets are used in situations where a large amount of bait is not required (e.g. in winter) or on waters where carp negatively react to the loud splash generated by larger models. The smallest bait rockets can be used with classic carp rods without worries of damage during heavy-loaded casts.

Medium-sized models are often a compromise between the amount of bait delivered and the distance of fishing. Medium-sized rockets usually have the best weight and size for baiting at distances exceeding 100 meters. The largest bait rockets allow for delivering a large amount of bait in fewer casts, therefore they are the choice of carp anglers who need to introduce tens of kilograms of bait to attract and retain fish in the fishing ground.

In creating this compilation, we were guided not only by our personal observations but also by information from our customers. We'll add right away that the order in which we arrange our "top" is random. Each of the models mentioned in it may suit a carp angler more or less, due to personal preferences regarding the loading system, the flight quality of the rocket resulting from different casting techniques, or the distances most often fished. The rockets by Nash are characterized by an innovative clasp system of the lid that locks the contents, ensuring that the rocket, whether it hits the water surface nose-first or on its side, will always open. Additionally, since the locking system of the rocket does not contain a bulky mechanism, the center of gravity has been completely moved forward, which significantly improves its flight and accuracy. The rocket quickly stabilizes in the air just after casting, allowing for a few extra meters of distance. When designing the Nash Dot Spod Impact, the manufacturer didn't forget to make it float on the water surface. Buoyancy not only facilitates the release of bait from inside but also allows for the retrieval of a snapped-off rocket floating on the surface. Significantly, the Dot Spod Impact rockets maintain a compact shape after casting into the fishing ground, minimizing resistance during retrieval, especially after baiting at long distances. The rocket is available in two colors, white and black, and in two sizes - Medium and Small.

Fox Impact Spod

The Fox brand rocket, distinguished by its patented construction, innovative loading system, and other practical solutions. A model that sells in hundreds of units each year in our store could not be omitted from our compilation!

Starting with the fact that the Impact Spod rocket has been designed under license from the renowned SPOMB brand - this information alone should assure the quality of the product. Fox Impact Spod uses a practical opening mechanism in its design, allowing it to be fully loaded every time, regardless of the type of bait mix used. Additionally, the closing system enables the effective use of the rocket with almost liquid mixes, making this rocket a leader among models for Zig-Rig baiting methods. A very practical solution applied in this rocket is the complete enclosure of the opening mechanism. Thus, the mechanism is not exposed to bait particles that could interfere with its proper function and frustrate us. The color scheme of the Impact Spod rocket is also not accidental. Nash Spot On Dot Spod AIR

The Dot Spot AIR model had to be included in our compilation due to its rarely found but incredibly effective feature - the ability to release its content in mid-air! In addition, it is very well made and RELIABLE, which is characteristic of the Nash brand.

Thanks to the special content-releasing system of the Dot Spot AIR, it is possible to effectively bait on technically difficult waters due to overhanging trees. This type of rocket also excels on waters where fish are wary of the loud entry of the rocket into the water. Upon opening Dot Spod AIR over the fishing area, the bait is dispersed over a larger area, while the rocket itself bounces back and enters the water before the baited area. The Dot Spod AIR Rocket gives us new possibilities, allowing us to bait a large area of the fishing ground with widely scattered bait in just a few casts. Such significant dispersion of bait often allows for catching difficult fish that do not feel safe feeding in a large concentration of bait, such as what we get with classic bait rockets. The bait rocket from Korum is a unique model that, thanks to its construction, allows for very precise baiting on deep waters or rivers. These capabilities made it definitely deserve a place in our compilation.

The special construction of the Korum Booper Bait Dropper rocket uses weight rings and a release pin to release the contents upon contact with the bottom of the fishing ground - something never before seen on the market! It's an irreplaceable solution when we want to precisely bait very deep waters with concentrated bait in one place. A classic open-at-the-surface rocket won't allow for this, as the bait will spread over a much larger area, and in the worst case, drift or current will move it a few or even a dozen meters further. Additionally, this type of rocket works excellently for baiting on rivers - after reaching the bottom and releasing the contents, it reduces the risk of bait being carried away with the current.
