End Section Matched to the Hook

The leader line connects the hook to the rest of the rig and directly affects the bait presentation. Its diameter should correspond to the hook size, fish size, and the number of snags. Too thick material can stiffen a delicate leader, while excessively thin can limit the safety of the fight.

Knot Strength and Consistency

The linear strength rating does not show the full durability of the finished leader. The quality of the knot, condition of the material, and absence of kinks after storage are important. It’s worth preparing leaders in advance in fixed lengths and labeling them. The full range of lines can be found in feeder lines and braids. For stiffer sections or specific presentations, consider fluorocarbon lines, checking their knot behavior.
