Feeder Lines and Braids

Feeder Lines and Braids
Main Line, Leader, and Protective Section
Feeder materials serve different functions: the main line transfers the cast and signals bites, the leader presents the hook, and the shock leader absorbs the greatest load during the basket’s acceleration. Do not choose one diameter for all sections without considering distance, bottom conditions, and fish size.
Line for Shock Absorption and Stealth
The main feeder lines category includes lines that stretch under load, softening sudden fish movements. The feeder leader lines are selected based on diameter, softness, and knot strength. Separate fluorocarbon lines are stiffer and less visible underwater, but their properties must be matched to the specific application.
Braids and Direct Contact
Materials in the feeder braids group have low stretch, which improves the transmission of subtle bites over longer distances. At the same time, they absorb errors less during the fight and may require a shock leader or a section of line. Before spooling, check the fishing ground regulations, spool capacity, and proper line lay.
