Carp rods with a telescopic butt section – compact when packed down

In carp rods with a telescopic butt section, part of the lower blank section can be slid into the adjacent section. This significantly reduces the transport length without splitting the rod into multiple separate components. Designs referred to as semi-telescopic rods, retractable butt models or carp rods with an extending butt section are a compact alternative to classic carp rods.

The shortened transport package takes up less space in the car, on a fishing trolley and when moving between swims. However, the telescopic butt section itself does not determine the rod action or casting distance – these depend on the entire blank, its length, test curve and the guides used.

Carp rods with a telescopic butt section from 6 to 13 ft

The range includes short 6 ft carp rods, 9 and 10 ft models, rods with an adjustable length of 8–10 ft, as well as longer 13 ft carp rods. Available test curves from 3.00 to 4.00 lb make it possible to find rods for mobile fishing, stalking and bait boat fishing, as well as more powerful models designed for casting.

Individual models differ in transport length, blank characteristics, power and handle finish, including cork, Duplon foam or shrink tube.

Compact design without a full telescopic construction

In this group, only the lower section of the rod folds telescopically. The remaining sections retain a construction typical of a take-apart rod. This distinguishes them from telescopic carp rods, in which several successive blank sections slide into one another.

The combination of a shorter transport length and a limited number of joints is a characteristic feature of models with an extending butt section. Matching shorter carp rod holdalls make it easier to safely transport the complete setup with reels attached.
