Carp Inline Weights

Carp inline weights are weights through the center of which a rig element, most often a fishing line or leadcore, is threaded. This type of design is also referred to as central weights, inline weights, or in-line — in practice, these names all refer to the same type of carp weight. Inline models are used in inline rigs and selected carp setups, including those where the weight supports effective self-hooking.

Inline Weights for Carp Rigs

In inline weights, the rig element passes through the center of the weight, which distinguishes them from carp weights with a swivel, which are attached to the rig via a swivel. Many models feature an internal insert or sleeve to facilitate proper rig assembly. The weight of the inline weight is selected based on the fishing distance, weather conditions, water currents, type of rig, and the nature of the fishing spot.

Carp inline weights come in various shapes tailored to specific applications on the water. Available models include teardrop, pear, flattened pear, square pear, grippa, and more elongated weights that can help cast the rig further when carp fishing. All models feature a camouflaging coating that helps blend the weight with the bottom color and distinguishes carp weights from many general inline fishing weights.

Inline Weights, Casting, and Boating

Inline weights can be used both for casting and for baitboat or pontoon delivery. If the main goal is to cast the rig further with a carp rod, it’s worth checking out carp casting weights. When fishing with a baitboat, a better-suited group will be carp baitboat weights, designed for precise delivery of the rig to the chosen spot.
