Feeder Rods for Method Feeder and Classic Feeder
Feeder rods are designed for bottom fishing with a cage feeder or weight, with bites indicated by interchangeable tips. This category includes rods for method feeder, classic feeder, commercial fishing, and long-distance casting, as well as compatible spare tips. Differences between models mainly concern length, casting weight, action, blank power, and the number of available tips.
How to Choose a Feeder Rod?
Start with the distance, the weight of the filled cage, and the nature of the fishing spot. A shorter and lighter rod is convenient for commercial waters and short distances. A longer, stronger feeder makes it easier to accurately cast a heavier rig over longer distances and control the line in the current. Compare the declared casting weight with the total weight of the cage, bait, and rig, leaving a safe margin.
The tip mainly signals bites rather than the overall power of the rod. Choose its sensitivity according to the rig’s weight, drag, and wind: too soft may be constantly overloaded, while too stiff will reduce the clarity of subtle bites. Also check the transport length, number of sections, and availability of spare parts.
Rod for Method or Classic Feeder?
For method feeder, rods are usually chosen to suit short or medium distances and dynamic fish playing. Classic feeder may require a more delicate presentation on still water or greater power on rivers and long distances. Instead of relying on the series name alone, compare the parameters of the specific variant.
You can narrow down the selection to Preston feeder rods, Guru feeder rods, Matrix feeder rods, and Shimano feeder rods. After choosing the rod, select a suitable feeder reel by size and gear ratio.
