Carp hooks are specially designed for catching carp and other larger fish. They are characterized by thick, strong wire and a specific eye. Apart from various shapes, carp hooks are divided into barbed and barbless models.
What to pay attention to when buying carp hooks?
Bend width - A wide bend guarantees much better holding in the fish's mouth during the fight. A narrow bend is more gripping, but due to shallow holding in the mouth, it is not recommended for fishing near snags.
Wire thickness - Hooks come with different wire thicknesses. With thin wire, the bait is much easier for the fish to suck in, increasing the chance of a bite, but it will not withstand excessive strain during fights in snags or vegetation – here a hook with thicker wire works much better.
Eye angle - The eye can be bent inward, straight in relation to the hook shank, or bent outward. Choosing the right hook model with a bent eye is important depending on the leader materials used – soft braid or stiff monofilament.
Hook shank - It can be short, long, straight, or bent. The shank is selected based on the fishing method, type of bait, and the conditions in which you fish.
Point direction - Typical carp hooks come in two options: with a straight point (straight) or with a point bent inward (beaked).
