Avid Carp Ascent Rods – high-modulus carbon carp rods

Avid Carp Ascent Rods is a range of two-piece carp rods made from high-modulus carbon fibre, available in 10, 12 and 13 ft lengths and test curves from 3 to 4 lb. Multi-directional carbon lay-up, Anti-Tangle XTG Sea-Guide guides and a full Japanese Shrink handle create a lightweight, responsive design built for accurate casting and fish control during the fight.

High-modulus blank with a progressive action

The blanks are made from high-modulus carbon fibre to provide a fast response and sufficient power reserves from the tip through to the butt section. The progressive action combines casting performance with smooth load absorption during the fight.

Multi-directional carbon and 1K weave

The construction features multi-directional carbon cloth, which helps maintain a straight blank action under load. An additional 1K carbon weave increases stability and strength without unnecessarily adding weight to the rod.

Anti-Tangle XTG Sea-Guide guides

Avid Carp Ascent rods are fitted with Anti-Tangle XTG Sea-Guide guides with high-quality LS Zirconia inserts. The smooth inserts reduce line friction during casting, while the Anti-Tangle design reduces the risk of the rig wrapping around the guide frame. The manufacturer also states that this guide layout is suitable for use with braided lines.

The 10 ft models feature 40–16 mm guides, while all standard 12 and 13 ft versions feature 50–16 mm guides.

Sea-Guide XDPS 18 mm reel seat

The reel is secured in a black Sea-Guide XDPS 18 mm reel seat. Subtle graphics and refined finishing details complete the design while maintaining the clean styling of the Ascent range.

Full Japanese Shrink handle

The full-length handle is finished with Japanese shrink material. The subtly flared butt grip and rounded end cap improve grip security when casting and playing fish. The blank also features markers positioned every 1 ft, useful, among other things, for measuring out the rig.
