Rod rests have a thread that is usually standardized, meaning that you can screw in the vast majority of bite indicators, fork rests, or line angle adapters like the Moon type. Rod rests are also divided in terms of the spike - there are versions with a straight spike for use in soft ground, or spiral ones, which allow for solid screwing into the hardest places.
