TechPro Mozzi is one of the launches we present in the Trakker 2026 New Releases series. For me, it is one of the best examples of a product whose purpose you can truly understand only when a problem appears by the water that you previously just learned to live with.

When Mosquitoes Win Over Carp

I have to admit something.

A few months before the launch of every new Trakker product, I receive technical descriptions, specifications, and texts to translate, which later appear on packaging, in catalogs, or marketing materials. Thanks to this, I often see products well before they hit the market.

I clearly remember the moment I first read about the TechPro Mozzi hat with an integrated mosquito net.

My first thought?

A beekeeper at the fishing spot…

I smiled to myself. After all, I have been carp fishing for years, traveling across Europe, and spending hundreds of hours by the water. I translated the materials, sent them on, and completely forgot about the product.

A few months later, summer arrived. Heatwaves, mosquitoes, midges, and thousands of tiny insects flying toward every light source.

I remember one evening bite particularly well. The fish took off decisively, so I put on my headlamp, jumped into the pontoon, and followed it.

The problem was that the light attracted literally everything with wings. Midges flew into my eyes, nose, and mouth. At one point, the only thing I was thinking about was no longer the hooked carp. I just wanted to turn off the headlamp to stop hearing the buzzing around my head and stop spitting out more insects.

And that’s exactly what I did.

I fought the fish on the pontoon practically in the dark. Fortunately, everything ended successfully. Returning to shore with a beautiful carp in the landing net, I thought only one thing: I will never turn off my headlamp just because I can’t handle the insects.

TechPro Mozzi Boonie Hat – the hat that changed my mind

A few weeks later, during the presentation of the new Trakker collection, I saw the Trakker TechPro Mozzi Boonie Hat again. In an instant, that night on the pontoon came back to me.

The product I had smiled at a few months earlier suddenly looked completely different.

The wide brim protects the head during sunny days, but for me, the most important feature is the integrated mosquito net. You can use it when insect activity becomes most troublesome — especially at dusk, at night, with the headlamp on, or at waters surrounded by dense vegetation.

It’s not about wearing the mosquito net over your face the entire session. Its greatest advantage for me is that it’s right at hand exactly when I start needing it.

And that’s when it stops looking strange.

It simply becomes practical.

The story with the hat was quite a surprise for me. Even bigger was the impression made by the shirt from the same series.

TechPro Mozzi Shirt – when technical clothing makes sense

During the presentation, I approached the Trakker TechPro Mozzi Shirt mainly because I simply liked it a lot.

Next to me stood Marvin, who designs Trakker clothing and is also a huge birdwatching enthusiast. He can spend hours sitting with a camera or spotting scope in places full of mosquitoes and ticks.

And it was this context that made me look at the shirt completely differently.

Where did the idea for TechPro Mozzi come from?

The inspiration for creating this series did not come solely from fishing. It also came from the world of people who spend a huge amount of time outdoors — nature photographers, birdwatchers, and those who spend many hours among vegetation, near water, and anywhere insect presence is completely normal.

Marvin started telling me about the technology used in the shirt. Honestly, after a few minutes, I was listening with my mouth open.

Before, I mainly saw a good-looking, lightweight fishing shirt. Only then did I realize how much functionality was hidden in it.

Tanatex with permethrin – additional protection against insects

The TechPro Mozzi Shirt uses Tanatex impregnation with permethrin, which helps repel mosquitoes and reduce contact with ticks. For someone spending many hours by the water, this is an extra layer of protection that doesn’t need to be applied to the skin before every outing.

However, I don’t treat this as a substitute for common sense. Such clothing doesn’t mean we can forget about all other precautions or checking our body after returning from the fishing spot.

Its purpose is different: to help reduce the nuisance of insects during long hours outdoors.

For me, it’s also especially important that the protection applied didn’t turn the shirt into heavy, stiff outdoor clothing. It remains lightweight, flexible, breathable, and suitable for use in high temperatures.

And that matters most in summer when mosquitoes are most active.

Details designed by people who live outdoors

The longer I looked at the TechPro Mozzi Shirt, the more convinced I became that it was designed by people who really spend a lot of time outside.

I really liked the glasses holder located on the front placket. You can temporarily place your polarized or prescription glasses there instead of putting them in your pocket or leaving them somewhere on a table.

On the inside of the shirt, there is also a soft cloth sewn in for cleaning glasses, camera lenses, or phone screens. It’s a small detail I probably would never have thought of when buying a shirt, but by the water, it can come in handy almost every day.

Additionally, there are:

• four zippered pockets — two on the chest and two on the lower part of the shirt,
• ventilation panels on the back and under the armpits,
• the ability to roll up sleeves and secure them with a clip,
• a quick front placket closure,
• lightweight and quick-drying material.

What surprised me most, however, was that all these solutions don’t take away from the shirt’s comfort.

On a hot day, you can design the most functional clothing in the world, but if after an hour you want to take it off because it’s heavy and non-breathable, all the technology loses its meaning.

Here it’s different. The shirt remains lightweight, breathable, and allows freedom of movement. You can prepare rigs, move around your spot, get on a pontoon, or spend several hours in full sun without feeling like you’re wearing a heavy protective layer.

 

TechPro Mozzi as a set for summer sessions

The shirt and hat make sense separately as well, but for me, they show their function best as a set.

The TechPro Mozzi Shirt covers a significant part of the body and provides extra protection thanks to the impregnation used. The Boonie Hat allows you to protect the head and face with the mosquito net during the most troublesome moments.

At the same time, both products were designed with high temperatures in mind. And that is key for me.

Protection against insects during a summer session cannot mean having to wear a thick sweatshirt, long pants, and several layers of clothing just to reduce the number of bites. If it’s over 25 or 30 degrees outside, such a solution quickly becomes uncomfortable.

TechPro Mozzi approaches this problem from the other side — it provides the lightest possible layer between our body and the environment and allows us to function normally during heatwaves.

For me, this set is especially interesting for:

• summer and early autumn sessions,
• waters with dense vegetation,
• evening and night fishing,
• trips where we spend a lot of time outside the tent,
• situations when using a headlamp and the light starts attracting insects.

Most importantly, I don’t have to wear it because I’m “going to fight mosquitoes.” It’s simply functional clothing for warm days that additionally helps solve the insect problem.

The biggest innovations don’t always make the best first impression

The biggest innovations very rarely make the best first impression on me.

Sometimes they even seem strange.

That was the case with the hat with the mosquito net. It was also the case with the shirt using Tanatex technology.

Only my own experience made me look at these products completely differently. One night with a headlamp, a pontoon, and hundreds of insects around my face was enough for me to understand the purpose of a solution I had laughed at a few months earlier.

Today I know that true innovation doesn’t have to be about creating something the world has never seen before.

Sometimes it’s simply about solving a problem we’ve all already learned to live with.

And I think that’s what I appreciate most about Trakker. Because before a new product hits the catalog, it very often solves a problem I didn’t even know I had yet.
