A hook sharpener. Frequent misses and a lack of bites are common symptoms of using dull hooks. For a rig to function properly, a very sharp hook is required. Unfortunately, the bottom of a water body, especially in gravel pits, rivers, or old flooded quarries, is not the friendliest place for hook points. Sometimes, after just one cast, the hook can lose its sharpness, and reusing it risks unpleasant surprises. The solution is to either replace the hook with a new one or to hone the point with a special sharpener. If in doubt about the sharpness of the hook, just a few strokes are enough to restore it to perfect condition :)
