The Kaizen model in the SPOD version complements the series of excellent casting rods, designed for baiting with spod rockets and bottom feature finding with a marker float. During the design of this model, Danny Fairbrass was heavily involved - someone who, as I am well aware, demands a lot from his gear - and the Kaizen Spod had to meet all his requirements, which it did! The blank profile of the rod has been selected to provide a 'tip action', which enhances performance, especially when baiting at longer ranges. Thanks to this design, the blank loads very efficiently and quickly 'dampens' after the cast, allowing for subsequent bait deliveries to spots often several meters away. Additionally, the blank has been engineered to eliminate any twist, significantly improving accuracy, and as we know, accurate baiting leads to better catches later on. The action of the Kaizen SPOD rod isn't just dependent on the blank profile - the type of material used is also crucial. Here, Korda has raised the bar by offering a rod made from the finest Japanese carbon. The ZERO90 carbon fiber is used in two layers and bonded with the least amount of resin possible, making it incredibly stiff yet amazingly light - which we especially appreciate when delivering large amounts of bait to the fishing spot. The Kaizen SPOD rod features strong, yet lightweight Sea-Guide TDG guides with a size of 50mm on the butt section and 16mm on the tip. Additionally, the lightweight but sturdy Fuji DPS reel seat allows for the solid mounting of a large carp reel without worry of any issues during the high loading caused by casting. The butt section of the rod is finished entirely with high-grade Japanese shrink wrap material, which not only gives the rod an excellent appearance but also ensures a proper grip, especially during rainy days when hands are wet or when baiting with wet grain or pellets doused in liquids.
