Rod Hutchinson Carp Rods
Carp rods - colloquially referred to as "carp sticks", are characterized by specific features and construction. They are most often made of carbon fiber with a specific layout of guides and a split handle that facilitates a secure grip during casting.
Length of rods - carp rods are most commonly made in 3 lengths given in English feet: 10' (3m), 12' (3.6m), and 13' (3.9m). Shorter versions are intended for boat fishing, medium ones are the most common and the most versatile, while the long rods are mainly designed for extremely distant casts.
Flexibility of rods - also known as the test curve, is most often given on a scale from 2-3.5 lb, i.e., 2.0; 2.75; 3.0; 3.25, and 3.5 lb. The higher the lb, the stiffer the rod, allowing for casting the rig further. The lower the lb, the more flexible the rod, providing more pleasure during the fight. High-quality rods allow you to combine both features to achieve excellent casting parameters while maintaining the pleasure of the fight.
The most popular and versatile rods are 12' (3.60m) long and have a test curve of 3.0 lb.
