Zig Bugs are floating carp flies. When fish are not feeding on the bottom but are moving through the water column or picking off bait from the surface, instead of sitting idly and waiting for a miracle, let's try a different approach and present the bait where the fish are. Fishing in the water column with a Zig Rig setup is a much more active form of carp fishing than just waiting for a bite. After casting the rig, we leave it in place for 20-30 minutes. If nothing happens - change the bait's swimming depth, switch the bait, or recast the rig. When using a zig rig, the rule is: if nothing happens - take action! Zig Bugs can be additionally flavored, but from experience, I know that it's not necessary. These flies (Zig Bugs) mimic the insects that fish naturally feed on. Zig Bugs are tied on eyed hooks.
