Tiger nuts – a true delicacy in the carp fishing menu. Wherever carp are familiar with tiger nuts, they rank among the most effective baits and groundbaits. You can be sure that even Zenek wouldn’t hesitate to use them to catch his big carp! :)
Preparation method:
Preparing tiger nuts is simple – just soak them in water for 24-48 hours, then add sugar and boil for 30 - 180 minutes. This process brings out their nutty-sweet aroma and flavor. Thanks to their high content of sugar, vitamins, and minerals, they are not only a tasty treat but also a nutritious diet substitute.
There are several methods for preparing and using tiger nuts, including:
1) Fresh tiger nuts – used right after boiling, either plain or with various additives like sugar, honey, talin, or flavorings.
2) Fermented tiger nuts – one approach recommends preparing the nuts well before your session and using them only once they’ve fermented (the liquid in which the nuts were boiled turns into a gel).
3) Pickled tiger nuts
Tiger nuts are not digested by carp (similar to how mushrooms are not digested by humans) and should be used responsibly on fishing spots.
Available Sizes:
- Mini - 6-8 mm size – perfect for long-distance carpet feeding and as an ingredient in spod mixes. The smaller size means there are more pieces per kilogram, encouraging fish to stay longer in the swim to collect more particles.
- Standard - 8-12 mm size – versatile for long-distance carpet feeding, spot feeding, and fishing. The varied bait diameter helps carp take different sized particles, making them less cautious.
- XL Jumbo - 10-18 mm size – generally used mainly as bait or for spot groundbaiting. Larger nuts are avoided by most fish except carp and grass carp. Versatile for long-distance carpet feeding, spot feeding, and fishing. The varied bait diameter encourages carp to take different sized particles, making them less cautious.
- XL Negro - 8-18 mm – universal use. Suitable for both feeding and fishing. A special variety with a darker skin. Especially recommended for pressured waters where fish start to associate standard tiger nuts with danger. Also works well in clear, shallow waters since they are harder for ducks and swans to spot – birds that can cause serious damage to the feeding area...
